How pharmacy licensing works in Missouri.
Missouri still requires its own MPJE and does not currently accept the Uniform MPJE. Technicians must register with the Board, and certification is only required for certain tasks such as giving vaccines.
NAPLEX plus the Missouri MPJE
New pharmacists pass the NAPLEX and the Missouri MPJE and complete 1,500 internship hours. Graduates from 2016 onward are treated as meeting the hours without extra paperwork unless the Board asks.
License transfer and the MPJE
Pharmacists licensed in another state apply by transfer and pass the Missouri MPJE. The UMPJE is under Board review and not currently accepted, and a fingerprint background check is required.
Registered with the Board
Every technician needs a current Missouri registration, but certification is not required to register. Applicants can start work once their application and fingerprint fee are in.
Pharmacist-administered vaccines
Missouri pharmacists can order and give FDA-approved vaccines by protocol to people aged seven and over, or the CDC-recommended age, and can prescribe nicotine replacement therapy.
