How pharmacy licensing works in Arkansas.
Arkansas sets its own law exam rather than the MPJE, and pharmacists moving in sit it in person in Arkansas before appearing at a Board meeting. Internship requirements are set at 2,000 hours.
NAPLEX plus the Arkansas law exam
New pharmacists pass the NAPLEX and score at least 70% on the Arkansas jurisprudence exam. The Board requires 2,000 hours of internship training gained after starting pharmacy school.
In-person law exam and a Board meeting
After six months licensed elsewhere, pharmacists apply through NABP, then take the Arkansas Jurisprudence Exam in person and attend a Board meeting. The MPJE is not accepted.
Registered with the Board
Technicians register with the Board, pass a criminal background check and need a high school diploma or GED. They cannot start work until the Board issues their registration.
Test and treat under statewide protocols
Arkansas pharmacists can test for and treat flu and strep A, and start oral contraceptives, under statewide protocols approved by the Board.
