Florida Licensing

How pharmacy licensing works in Florida.

Florida has made it easier for experienced pharmacists to move in, and its pharmacists can test and treat several common conditions. Both make it an active market for relocating candidates.

Pharmacists

NAPLEX plus Florida law

New pharmacists need the NAPLEX and Florida's law exam (the Board lists the Uniform MPJE), plus 2,080 internship hours, which PharmD graduates meet through their degree.

Moving to Florida

Endorsement for experienced pharmacists

Pharmacists with an active, unencumbered license elsewhere, at least two of the last four years in practice and no discipline in the last five years can apply by endorsement.

Technicians

Registered Pharmacy Technicians

Florida technicians must complete a Board-approved training program and register with the Board. National certification on its own does not replace the training program.

Broader Scope

Test and treat

Certified Florida pharmacists can test for and treat flu, strep, lice and some minor skin conditions and infections under a written protocol with a physician.
