Wyoming Licensing

How pharmacy licensing works in Wyoming.

Wyoming licenses pharmacists with the NAPLEX and the Wyoming MPJE, and expects recent practice from anyone transferring in. Its technicians must be nationally certified, which makes the technician pool smaller than in many states.

Pharmacists

NAPLEX plus the Wyoming MPJE

The Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy requires passing scores on the NAPLEX and the Wyoming MPJE, plus 1,200 internship hours, with everything completed within two years of applying.

Moving to Wyoming

NABP license transfer

Pharmacists licensed by exam in another state transfer through NABP, pass the Wyoming MPJE and complete a fingerprint background check. The NABP application expires after one year.

Technicians

Certified, then licensed

Technician applicants must hold PTCB or NHA certification. A technician-in-training permit lets you work at one sponsoring pharmacy for up to two years while you prepare for the exam.

Recent Practice

Active practice for transfers

Transferring pharmacists must show active practice in the year before applying. Anyone who cannot must complete a board-approved Wyoming internship of at least 400 hours.
