How pharmacy licensing works in Delaware.
Delaware asks every new pharmacist for 1,500 hours of board-approved experience, the NAPLEX and the MPJE, plus a state and FBI background check. Pharmacists moving in use NABP license transfer and sit the MPJE for Delaware.
NAPLEX plus the MPJE
New pharmacists pass the NAPLEX and the MPJE and complete 1,500 hours of board-approved pre-licensure experience. A Delaware and FBI fingerprint background check is also required.
NABP license transfer
Pharmacists licensed elsewhere apply through NABP's license transfer program, pass the MPJE for Delaware and complete a new fingerprint background check. Checks done for other states don't count.
No state technician license
The Delaware Board of Pharmacy does not list a pharmacy technician license or registration among its credentials. Technicians work under a pharmacist's supervision.
Contraception access
Delaware law lets trained pharmacists dispense contraceptives, and dispense and give injectable hormonal contraceptives, under a state standing order.
