Nevada Licensing

How pharmacy licensing works in Nevada.

Nevada stopped using the MPJE in 2025 and now sets its own law exam, the NVLE, which every new pharmacist must pass. Technicians qualify through training or supervised hours rather than a national certification exam.

Pharmacists

NAPLEX plus the NVLE

Candidates need 1,500 verified intern hours, the NAPLEX and the Nevada Law Examination (NVLE), a 50-question exam the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy writes and runs itself.

Moving to Nevada

NABP transfer plus the NVLE

Pharmacists with an active license originally earned by examination apply through NABP's e-LTP, then pass the NVLE. A recent NAPLEX score can also be transferred to Nevada.

Technicians

Registered pharmaceutical technician

Technicians register with the board after a board-approved training program or 1,500 hours as a registered technician in training. Experienced technicians from other states can qualify with 1,500 certified hours.

Broader Scope

HIV PrEP and PEP

Trained Nevada pharmacists can prescribe, dispense and administer HIV prevention drugs (PrEP and PEP) and order related lab tests, under a board protocol.
