Frequently Asked Questions: Community Pharmacy
What qualifications do I need to work as a speech and language therapist in the UK?
You must hold an HCPC-approved degree in speech and language therapy and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Can I move between NHS and private sector roles?
Absolutely. Quad Recruitment helps SLTs transition between community, hospital, and private practice settings. This is generally a really easy transition; we will offer you support with interview prep, as the set-up is generally quite different from an NHS set-up.
Do you support locum work for SLTs?
Yes. We place SLTs in flexible locum positions across the UK, providing variety and professional growth.
What career progression opportunities are available?
SLTs can specialise in areas such as paediatrics, dysphagia, neuro-rehabilitation, or move into management, teaching, and research roles.
Do you recruit newly qualified SLTs?
Yes, we support newly qualified SLTs with structured entry roles and guidance on career development. Many of our clients (employers) actively want fresh SLT’s on their team to bring innovative approaches to their business/department.
What types of employers do you work with?
We recruit for NHS trusts, private clinics, schools, rehabilitation centres, and teletherapy providers.
Where are SLT roles available?
We recruit nationwide, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, and Cardiff.
Do you work with overseas SLTs?
We can as long as the conversion course has been completed. We work with employers who can offer visa’s, but the expectation is that you would have your HCPC pin ahead of beginning your journey with them.
