  • Monday to Friday: 08:30am to 16:30pm
  • 1 in 5 Saturdays: 08:00am to 14:00pm
  • No Sundays / Bank Holidays
  • Clinical diploma is not required

If you are looking to step into the clinical sector, then this is for you! I am currently recruiting for a full time Pharmacist in Derby. This position involves providing pharmaceutical care to patients, including medication counseling, prescription verification, drug utilization review, and promoting rational drug therapy. The pharmacist collaborates with healthcare professionals, patients, and their families to optimize medication therapy and contribute to the overall patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions.
  • Dispense medications to patients accurately and efficiently, following legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide clear and concise medication counseling to patients, ensuring understanding of dosage instructions, potential side effects, and proper medication administration.
  • Address patient questions and concerns regarding their medications, potential interactions, or other related issues.
  • Conduct comprehensive medication reviews for outpatients, identifying and resolving drug therapy problems.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy, including dose adjustments, therapy modifications, or alternative medication options when necessary.
  • Monitor patient response to medications and make recommendations for therapy adjustments as required.
  • Document interventions and communicate pertinent information to the healthcare team.
  • Review medication orders for appropriateness, therapeutic duplications, drug allergies, and potential interactions.
  • Monitor and manage drug formularies, suggesting changes to promote cost-effective medication use.
  • Provide guidance and support to healthcare professionals regarding medication selection, dosage adjustments, or therapeutic alternatives.
  • Stay updated on current pharmaceutical research, developments, and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, or committees to provide expertise on medication-related topics.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration between healthcare teams to achieve patient-centered care.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceautical Council (GPhC)
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug therapy, and medication management principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Detail-oriented and able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using pharmacy-related software and technology.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on emerging pharmacy practices and regulations.
