The pharmacy profession is a rewarding one, but it's important to know what your skills are worth. In this blog post, we will discuss some of the factors that can affect pharmacist salaries, and what you can expect to earn in this field. Keep reading to find out more!

What factors affect pharmacist salaries in the UK?

Many different factors can affect how much you get paid as a pharmacist. Some examples include:

  • Your level of experience: Experience is a huge factor in determining Pharmacist's salaries. Understandably, newly qualified Pharmacists will earn less than somebody with 5 years of experience
  • The location of the role: Pharmacist salaries can vary slightly depending on the location of the job. For example, pharmacists in remote locations can earn more than those in more populated parts of the UK due to the lack of Pharmacists.

  • Which sector you work in: Working in Community Pharmacy could give you a slightly higher salary than Hospital or Industry Pharmacy (dependent on how senior you are)
  • Further Qualifications: Employers will often pay higher salaries to those who have additional qualifications e.g. Independent Prescribing or Clinical Diploma
  • Your responsibilities: Pharmacists with more responsibilities, such as managing a team, may earn more than those with less responsibilities.

What can you expect to earn as a pharmacist in the UK in 2025?
